Almost a decade of dating and an intense game of “Super Mario World” brought childhood acquaintances Jennifer and Sean together forever.
“It happened at home, which is very us. He had somehow managed to write ‘Will you marry me?’ in a ‘Super Mario World’ game,” Jennifer says, though she didn’t realize at first that the words were meant for her!
A resounding “yes” and 11 months later, the couple wed in a lush garden on a sunny March day among 68 of their closest friends and family.
“We knew that we didn’t want a huge wedding,” Jennifer says. “We loved how intimate and personal it felt and that we were able to spend time with everyone who attended.”
Adding to the intimacy of the affair, Jennifer’s sister designed all of the couple’s wedding invitations and stationery, and Sean’s best friend officiated the ceremony!
Jennifer and Sean booked their dream photographer, Serendipity Photography, to capture their bright floral arrangements, lush table designs and joyous dancing.
“Right from the start, we knew we wanted Serendipity as our photographers,” Jennifer says. “I’ve been following them on their blog for a few years, and I really love their style. Alice and Eric are awesome people as well.”
Jennifer and Sean will celebrate two years of marriage tomorrow! Congrats, and thanks for sharing your oh-so-special day with us on the Houston Wedding Blog!

Anna, who grew up in lush, tree-filled Marietta, Ga., knew she wanted the feel of the outdoors at her Texas wedding to Clark, even if it had to take place indoors. For the couple’s July wedding, a “woodlands” theme presided, with moss and foliage entwined against billowing drapery, and Anna in a flowing dress from Joan Pillow Bridal Salon for the ceremony.
The couple worked with Houston photographer Philip Thomas of Philip Thomas Photography to document their special day. Thomas captured countless of what he calls “in-between moments” of Anna, Clark and their loved ones like these sweet hugs and kisses!
Taking note of Anna’s “woodlands” inspiration, we love how Thomas captured plenty of natural light in his photos, and even braved the hot, hot Texas heat to take this oh-so-romantic tree-lined shot. At the reception, Anna and Clark “traded out white for pops of primary colors,” Anna says, which Thomas also captured beautifully, as pictured in the shot below.
“We really wanted our wedding to be fun and full of energy, and I feel like between the band, photo booth and the aviator sunglasses that everyone loved, we could just focus on having a blast and not worry about any details,” Anna recounts. It looks like everyone (especially Clark!) had the time of their lives. Congrats to the both of you, Anna and Clark, we wish you a lifetime of happiness!

Evie was in Chicago, and Victor in Guatemala. How did the pair meet? It just so happens that Victor was her aunt’s neighbor in Guatamela. During her childhood, Evie spent many summers visiting her aunt, and eventually became friends with Victor. Their childhood friendship lead them to their first kiss at age 13 (aww). Unfortunately, Victor lost touch with Evie after he moved to Texas when he was 15. A few years later the young lovebirds reconnected, and made sure not to let each other go. One sweet summer night in Chicago (the night before her birthday), Evie and Victor ventured out to the pier on Lake Michigan to watch the Blood Moon. It caught her by surprise when Victor got down on one knee at midnight. You can guess what happened next!
The pair tied the knot at The Bell Tower on 34th in front of 75 of their nearest and dearest. The room was filled with blush and peach roses, Casablanca lilies and garden roses, all of which set a romantic tone for their classic, intimate wedding celebration. We couldn’t help but wipe our tears after seeing the beautiful photos of this elegant Houston wedding, and are sure you will, too. Congrats and best wishes to the lovely couple!

A last-minute email and some amazing luck ultimately brought Gabrielle and John together forever. Gabrielle had been using Match.com for nearly two years. John had been active for only two weeks. Gabrielle was “over it,” but John was certainly not over her. After ignoring his emails, Gabrielle decided to go out on a limb and respond to John before canceling her subscription to the dating app, and she sure was glad she did! The couple was inseparable from that first date on. “He literally was my last date off Match. Little did I know it would be my last date period,” Gabrielle says.
Fast forward: Gabrielle and John celebrated their perfect wedding day at the stunning Houston wedding venue Chateau Cocomar, which perfectly captured Gabrielle’s theme of “elegance and glitz with a sprinkle of over-the-top.” But, in typical Houston fashion, the skies opened up and drenched their dream venue. For an instant the couple’s luck had seemed to fade…
But don’t worry, this story has a happy ending! The team at J’Adore Events was able to save the day and seamlessly pull off the wedding of Gabrielle and John’s dreams, with a regal navy, ivory and gold wedding color palette, a five-tier wedding cake, and treats featuring the couple’s favorite snack—popcorn from The Popcorn Bar! “I wanted a wedding that pampered my guests and had them wanting for nothing,” Gabrielle says. It’s safe to say she succeeded. Congratulations, Gabrielle & John, we wish you a lifetime of love!

“It was Jill’s smile, full of life and joy, that captivated me in her profile picture on Match.com,” Marina says. “We met for the first time at the Memorial Park running trails in Houston. She was so radiant, sweet, funny and smart. I was immediately besotted with her. The more time I spent with her, the more I saw that what most people would think are flaws are actually her perfections, just reaffirming over and over again that she truly was the one for me. I was most certainly going to marry this woman. And what a woman she is.”
As for Jill, well, “I had given up on love,” she says, “and then came Marina. She was so certain all along that we were meant to be. I was skeptical… could this be the real thing? Could love endure and grow into a lasting relationship? Marina’s love opened my eyes and kindled a fire in my heart. And she was right…we were in fact, meant to be. She’s beautiful, smart, funny, with a heart full of love. I am caught…forever.” And so are we. Join us in celebrating Houston couple Marina and Jill’s beautiful destination wedding at breathtaking King River Ranch, one of our absolute favorite Hill Country wedding venues.
With its “French country theme” and incorporation of the fall season’s colorful splendor into magnificent bouquets and floral arrangements by King River Ranch’s in-house floral design firm, Willem-Aiden, “Everything was rustic and elegant at the same time,” the couple tells us. And the joy this couple shares, well–it shines through every aspect of their celebration. Congratulations, Marina & Jill!
