On the 5th anniversary of the beginning of their courtship, Ronak took Zena to Sonoma, Calif., to celebrate—and, unbeknownst to her—to propose. “During our visit to Pride Vineyard, he had a picnic set up with my favorite foods and during the picnic gave me a scrapbook documenting our five years together. The final page said ‘Happily Ever After?’ Once I got to that page, he got down on one knee and proposed. We spent the rest of the weekend at a wonderful resort in Napa Valley celebrating.” The celebrating continued at the couple’s multi-day Indian wedding, which kicked off with a mehndi party, followed by a Moroccan-theme sangeet at the St. Regis Hotel, and, finally a vintage-theme ceremony with a moss-covered, floral-draped altar, and lushly floral rustic-chic reception, both at The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa. Bride Zena’s favorite moment? “Walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing how nervous he was.” Happiest wishes to the lovely couple, and big thanks to Brooklyn, N.Y.-based J’Adore Love Photography for sharing beautiful images of this spectacular celebration.

We are privy to a lot of wonderful proposal stories, but this beauty, from Houston bride Emily, has got to be one of our favorites: “Chris proposed to me in our apartment on a Monday night. He used a chalkboard piggy bank that I had bought him a few years before. I was sick and Chris tried to convince me that there was medicine in the bathroom, but I didn’t believe him. We both went to the bathroom to see if there was any medicine in there and he had the piggy bank set up with a single rose in the slot. On the piggy bank it said, ‘turn around.’ I thought he meant turn the piggy bank around so I did and on the other side it said ‘wedding fund.’ That’s when I turned around to see Chris down on his knees asking me to marry him.” The couple’s daytime wedding was full of vintage touches and whimsy, from the guys’ old-school Converse sneaks to the tiered red-velvet cupcakes to the pretty wedding palette of pale green, light yellow, gray and white. Mexican food and a ceremony conducted by the bride’s standup-comic brother added to the fun—which was not dampened one bit when a flower girl accidentally fell into a fountain while one of the bridesmaids was toasting the couple. “She was fine,” Emily smiles. And she grins about this bit, too: “As silly as it sounded to our wedding planner, we really wanted to incorporate piggy banks into our decor. You should have seen people’s faces when we told them we were using piggy banks as wedding decorations! They turned out so cute and once people read our engagement story they understood and thought it was pretty cool.” And so do we. Congratulations, Emily and Chris, and huge thanks to the wonderful Alicia Pyne of Alicia Pyne Photography for beautiful photos of this delightful day.

While “the dog did it” is a legendarily convenient excuse for all kinds of stuff, in the case of Andrew’s proposal to Lauren…the dog really did! “Andrew had a tag made that on one side said, ‘I love you,’ and on the other, ‘Will you marry me?’ He hung the tag and the ring on our dog Niko’s collar. I noticed it immediately and though it was some sort of joke. It was perfect! And thankfully it was not a joke,” the bride recounts. For the couple’s 150-guest wedding at The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa, Lauren opted for white with silver accents as her palette, “which I think is very simple yet extremely sophisticated and elegant,” she says. “It was very important to us that everyone there was a person that touched our lives in some way. That included having our dog there as the best man. The whole night was absolutely amazing. Andrew and I never left the dance floor!” We wish the newlyweds a lifetime of happiness, and send a shout-out to super-talented photographer Adam Nyholt for the beautiful images.

It pays to exercise! Just ask bride Katie, who fell in love with future groom David when the two started working out together in training for a triathlon. “We became good friends, and later did a half marathon together,” Katie tells us. “An engagement was soon to follow…and now so is a baby girl!” We’re so happy for newlyweds, and so delighted to share with you their Woodlands Resort & Conference Center wedding, shot by the very talented Huz Abdul of Kreative Angle Photography. Simple and elegant, with champagne, mocha and navy accent colors and a focus on the beautiful Woodlands Resort surroundings—we are charmed by this sweet wedding and the wonderful couple who shared it with us. Congratulations, Katie and David!

We’re just so tickled to be able to show y’all the wedding of Andrea and Alessandro—such a beautiful couple, such a magnificent celebration. The two met a Sunday Funday brunch…and ended up chatting ’til midnight that day. It wasn’t long until the pair realized they were madly in love, and eventually Alessandro proposed to his lovely bride on a trip to San Francisco. “On our second day, after an afternoon biking around Sausalito, he took me to an amazing mountain top for the sunset,” Andrea recounts. “Just as the sun was setting, he got down on one knee and proposed with the spectacular view of San Francisco behind him. It truly was the most amazing day!” Though perhaps not quite as amazing as the day the two tied the knot, with a church ceremony followed by a dazzling black-white-and-silver celebration at downtown Houston’s Hotel ZaZa. The silver-and-crystal candelabra, the dramatic feather accents, the sleek white dance floor—everything about this wedding exuded glamour and drama. Everything, that is, except for the awesome photo-booth fun that was a highlight of the wedding for guests and newlyweds alike, which exuded sheer joy and whimsy. If you’re wondering how Andrea put together such a spectacular wedding, she says she found “90%” of her vendors on her one-day visit to the I Do! Bridal Soiree at the Royal Sonesta (where, incidentally, she was also the lucky winner of our Kindle Fire giveaway—BONUS!). We’re so thankful to Andrea and Alessandro for sharing their special day—big thanks too to photographer Rachel Robinson for sharing her terrific pix.

There’s something so darn timeless and captivating about Shaw and Kael’s morning wedding at Galveston’s historic Hotel Galvez. Everything from the wash of coastal light to the vintage-inspired palette of warm golden brown and bright poppy red to the charmingly attired couple themselves is picture-perfect. Here’s something else that was perfect: the groom’s acknowledgement of the the day’s precious moments. “One thing I really appreciated was that throughout the day Kael would stop me and say, ‘Let’s remember this moment,’ which was a nice way to slow down and not forget anything important amidst a busy, emotional day,” explains Shaw. Grooms: Take note! Everyone else, take a moment to savor this delightful Galveston wedding, with fabulous photos courtesy of Houston-based Joshua Tyi Photography.

Oh, how we love a bride who doesn’t sweat the small stuff. Of course, Liliana could have had a breakdown when she realized she’d forgotten the bag containing all her makeup, her spare shoes and her hair accessory back at the hotel where she’d gotten prepped. And sure, she could have given in to the frustration of dealing with a verrrry fussy bustle on her beautiful Pronovias gown. But, at she says, “At the end of the day, you just have to laugh and go with it!” We couldn’t agree more. Instead of focusing on glitches, our lovely bride decided to focus on Jesus, her handsome groom, and the 220 loving guests gathered at Agave Road to celebrate the couple’s union until 2 a.m., when the newlyweds departed for a few hours of shuteye before a 6 a.m. flight to their St. Lucia honeymoon. Thank you, Liliana, for the lesson in gracious bride-ing—and for sharing your picture-perfect Select Studios wedding photos, and joyful story, with us!
