This place, you guys…THIS PLACE. First off, there’s the view, which is, in a word, awesome. As in, you are literally filed with awe as you look around from pretty much any spot on the property, since it’s perched on the highest ridge in the Dripping Springs area. That’s just one of the appeals of The Terrace Club. Here are a few more:

It’s all-inclusive. “You get the catering, coordinators, venue, tables, chairs, linens, centerpieces (we have about 16 different choices), decorations, setup, decorating, take-down and cleanup, cake-cutting services, Champagne butlering services, all dinnerware, and more, all included in the per-person price, plus the ability to customize your menu from scratch with our caterers,” explains Terrace Club owner Hunter Connor. “We handle everything for our clients, allowing the couple and their family and friends to be able to sit back and let the professionals do everything else.”

It’s surrounded by great activities. Since you’ll likely want to spend a few days celebrating with your guests at your Hill Country destination wedding (just take a sec and repeat that phrase a few times in your mind— “My Hill Country destination wedding…” “My Hill Country destination wedding…” “My Hill Country destination wedding…”), it’s nice to know that The Terrace Club is located in a perfect spot to take advantage of nearby excursions and activities. “We’re next door to the Deep Eddy vodka distillery, which is such a neat place to bring groups to enjoy some adult beverages and play lawn games in their outdoor space,” Connor says. Plus, “There are a ton of breweries and wineries out here, and we are only about 20-40 minutes or so from so many neat little towns like Wimberley and Fredericksburg, and many outdoor options like Jacob’s Well and Hamilton Pool, if you want to see the local natural swimming holes. There is so much to do out here that most couples who are doing a destination-style wedding have all of their guests stay out here, and everyone is easily entertained the entire weekend.” Done.

It’s available, and beautiful, year-round. “In the summer, even though it’s hot, the sunsets are spectacular…and we offer discounts for peak summer months,” Connor says (scroll down for more on summer discounts!). “In the spring and fall, the weather is cooler, the sunsets are remarkable, and you can enjoy outdoor activities since it’s not so hot. In the winter, we can use really cool lighting techniques to have after-sunset ceremonies, and we can do nice things for guests, like fire pits and s’mores. There really isn’t a bad season at The Terrace Club.”

It’s a bargain. While regular weekend wedding rates are already an excellent deal at The Terrace Club, right now, you’ll get 20% off of your entire invoice for any July or August dates, and you’ll always get a discounts for any Friday or Sunday date, no matter what month you’re planning to wed!

While Houston boasts a bevy of beautiful bridal gowns, mother-of-the-bride ensembles and bridesmaid dresses for every shape, size and style, there is something to be said about designers who tailor their work exclusively to you… and even more to be said about those who who give back to the community!
MLD Limited, one of Houston’s premier custom clothing designers, does just that. For more than 25 years, designer and president Mary Denney has fashioned couture gowns for some attendees of some of the city’s most prominent events, including (you guessed it) weddings! Looking for a regal, elegant bridal gown, or a classic (but not even slightly matronly) MOB/MOG dress? MLD knows exactly how to enhance your figure and show off your style!
“The benefit of custom design is that you get a better, more personal fit,” Denney says. “We do a prototype in a muslin fabric and we fit that to your body. You’re able to select your fabrics, and your design, and even go as far as selecting the lining!”
This month, MLD will taking its impeccable personal service one step further. For every purchase made in March, MLD will donate 15 percent of the purchase price to The American Heart Association, an organization near and dear to Denney’s heart.
“I am passionate about helping the Heart Association due to the death of my grandfather, dad and my dad’s two brothers. My brother has a heart condition as well as I have high blood pressure, “Denney says. “I have learned over the years that heart disease has an impact on all our lives. So many times we miss the warning signs, especially women. I am happy to support this worthy cause.”
The philanthropic special applies to all items and designs MLD Limited offers, but only lasts for a few more days! All you have to do is say, “Go Red,” at checkout to help the studio give back. And it won’t hurt to mention that you heard about the event on the Houston Wedding Blog. Happy shopping, lovelies!
Anna, who grew up in lush, tree-filled Marietta, Ga., knew she wanted the feel of the outdoors at her Texas wedding to Clark, even if it had to take place indoors. For the couple’s July wedding, a “woodlands” theme presided, with moss and foliage entwined against billowing drapery, and Anna in a flowing dress from Joan Pillow Bridal Salon for the ceremony.
The couple worked with Houston photographer Philip Thomas of Philip Thomas Photography to document their special day. Thomas captured countless of what he calls “in-between moments” of Anna, Clark and their loved ones like these sweet hugs and kisses!
Taking note of Anna’s “woodlands” inspiration, we love how Thomas captured plenty of natural light in his photos, and even braved the hot, hot Texas heat to take this oh-so-romantic tree-lined shot. At the reception, Anna and Clark “traded out white for pops of primary colors,” Anna says, which Thomas also captured beautifully, as pictured in the shot below.
“We really wanted our wedding to be fun and full of energy, and I feel like between the band, photo booth and the aviator sunglasses that everyone loved, we could just focus on having a blast and not worry about any details,” Anna recounts. It looks like everyone (especially Clark!) had the time of their lives. Congrats to the both of you, Anna and Clark, we wish you a lifetime of happiness!

“We all move in a certain, particular way, and we each have subtle idiosyncrasies that are an essential part of our being—” says wedding filmmaker Anna Boyter of Bear Hands Media Group, “the way we look at our parents, the way we wait impatiently, the way we lean into each other in love.”
Ah, yes. The way we lean into each other in love. Please, right now, take a moment and look at this Bear Hands wedding video of Hadley & Johnny’s nuptials (and linger on about 3:45 – 3:48 for a “lean into each other moment” that’ll set your heart going pitter-pat):
There is something about a beautifully shot, masterfully edited wedding video that captures not just the moments of the day, but the feeling of it—the tenderness and also the humor, the magic and exhilaration of romance but also the warmth and security of family. As a painter and a videographer both, Boyter has an incredible gift for crafting wedding videos that are both aesthetically beautiful and deeply affecting. And with Bear Hands Media Group, she surrounds herself with a team of like-minded videography talents who do the same.
One of our favorite new Bear Hands Media Group offerings is the “Motion Bridal Session”—a short, on-location, cinematic “bridal portrait” that captures the bride in all her wedding glory, in a relaxed pre-wedding videography session that can done simultaneously with your bridal photography. You guys, this is SUCH a cool film option…and such an awesome gift to hand down for generations to come!! Check it out:
We’ll be hanging with Bear Hands all through the week, on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, so make sure to check in with us for more fabulous films from Boyter and her crew, including wedding trailers, wedding highlight reels and still captures. And if you book your Bear Hands Media Group wedding videography by April 30, MAKE SURE to mention you found them on Weddings in Houston’s blog—you’ll get 15% off!!
Happy wedding planning, lovelies…and congratulates on your starring role in the romance of a lifetime!
