Earlier this week, hot Houston decor, floral and fine-event-rentals outfit A Memorable Event hosted celebrity wedding planner Mindy Weiss and famed international floral designer Jeff Leatham, along with a selection of Houston’s top event professionals and media…and WHAT a memorable event it was. We were thrilled to attend this lovely luncheon and design showcase (yup, that’s a picture of our very own Radhika Day, founder and publisher of Weddings in Houston, cozied up to the brilliant Jeff Leatham). And, after all, who wouldn’t be? Both Weiss (wedding planner to stars including Adam Sandler, Eva Longoria, Jessica Simpson and MANY more) and Leatham (artistic director of the Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris and author of “Jeff Leatham: Visionary Art and Floral Design,” among other gorgeous flower-focused books) spoke extensively about their lives, work and approaches to event design. And WE ate it up. Along with lots of yumminess from the talented catering crew at the Westin Galleria, host hotel for this fabulous event. As for the floral and tabletop displays? WOW. Just…WOW. It wasn’t until her dad encouraged her to speak to cute ranch-hand Nathan (“my dad, who NEVER encouraged his daughters to date,” she laughs), that Louisiana-born Abbie took a second look at the shy guy who worked on her family’s hunting lease. And she liked what she saw. So much so, that when Nathan dropped on one knee and presented her with that unmistakable Tiffany box in November of last year, “I just threw my arms around him and of course I said, ‘Yes!!’” The couple’s summer wedding, coordinated by Gray & Associates Events at Lake Conroe’s picturesque Sanctuary at Water Oak served up Southern favorites including seafood bisque and blackened catfish, along with hand-rolled cigars, a swank whiskey bar, and lots of lively dancing. The pair’s pups Ellie and Boozer were on hand to watch the couple say their vows, and if there ever were two sweeter flower girls than the tulle-frocked cuties at Abbie’s side, we don’t know how or where.
