Michael planned the sweetest proposal for his high school sweetheart Sarah. “After dinner, Michael told me to put a blindfold on. He took me to several places around Kingwood where we had special memories: our first kiss, where he first told me he loved me, and our old high school meet-up spot. At each stop, Michael gave me a rose and proceeded to tell me a reason why he loved me at every spot. The final stop was at the golf course where Michael and I had our first date. When I took off the blindfold, he was down on one knee with rose petals scattered around him and a bottle of champagne. After I said “yes”, Michael had gathered both of our families to celebrate,” says bride Sarah. A sweet proposal story like this deserves an even sweeter wedding. Ladies, you never know where you’ll meet the one… He might just live in the same apartment building as you. Just ask Houston bride Kelly who met Miguel at a community barbeque thrown by a mutual friend. It was only a matter of weeks after meeting that Kelly and Miguel had their first date, and the rest was history. The lovely couple chose the Veranda by *17 at The Sam Houston Hotel which provided the perfect backdrop for their modern-vintage wedding theme. Gold mercury glass centerpieces and warm amber lighting filled the room. Sounds gorgeous, right? Just wait ‘til you see the sweet pictures. When Brittney first met Taylor through a mutual friend while they were both attending Texas A&M, she wasn’t so sure about dating the “old” guy. Six months later, that changed. Brittney decided to text Taylor to see how he was doing and the rest was history. Taylor planned the perfect proposal in Paris that completely swept Brittney off of her feet. “We stayed in a quaint little hotel near the Eiffel Tower and he told me that we were doing an 8 AM Eiffel Tower tour but he wanted me to look nice so we could take some pictures beforehand. At 7 AM, we stood in Trocadero Square where the Eiffel tower sits beautifully in the background attempting to take selfies. A photographer walked by offering to take pictures of us and it turns out, Taylor had been talking to this photographer and coordinated this whole plan. I had no idea. The photographer’s line was “the lighting is perfect now” and that is when Taylor got on his knee and asked me to marry him.” Looks like dating an “older” guy isn’t so bad after all, huh. It was only appropriate for the pair to plan their Houston wedding around the Texas A&M color palette of maroon, gray and white, which complemented their gorgeous wedding venue, The Corinthian, perfectly. While European-themed Chateau Polonez was the site of their spring wedding, it was the allure of the islands that served as inspiration for Julie and Justin’s memorable celebration. The couple, who became engaged in St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands, and would eventually honeymoon in French Polynesia, infused their special day with “beachy” elements, from a blue-and-coral palette to sand-rock-and-starfish candle displays, to guest tables named for famed island destinations. Did the newlyweds sail off into the sunset? Not exactly. But after hours of dancing and dining with those they loved most, they did drive off in a 1965 Rolls-Royce the groom had always coveted. “We had such a wonderful time,” the bride says, “and were so thankful to have our family and loved ones there.”
