A chance meeting with Stephen at a bar at the end of a long week sparked a conversation lasting well into the night and led Courtnie to declare that she had met the love of her life to her mom and best friend.
The phrase “When you know, you know” couldn’t be more true for Julia and Bryce! Julia has always loved weddings and dreamed of her own since she was a little girl. So when she met Bryce in 2017 not only did she immediately know he would be her future husband, but she also knew exactly what type of wedding she wanted when the time came.
Following a romantic beachside proposal, the time finally came 11 months later when the couple tied the knot in a traditional Catholic church ceremony before joining 230 of their loved ones for a classic wedding reception at Northgate Country Club. “We wanted a very timeless and classic wedding,” notes the bride, describing the elegant rose gold and white color palette. “The white dance floor and white draped walls, paired with the large windows overlooking the rolling hills of Northgate Country Club, made for the most elegant reception. We had large arrangements of peonies, spray roses, and hydrangeas which matched perfectly with the blush uplighting. The glass chandeliers, rose petals, and floating candles in all of the window sills transformed the venue into the most dreamy space.” The newlyweds and their guests enjoyed a delectable filet mignon with roasted potatoes and asparagus and danced the night away before ending their classic wedding celebration with a golden sparkler sendoff! After a chance meeting while celebrating Cinco de Mayo, Jessica and Andrew immediately hit it off while bonding over Sperry’s. Jessica noticed Andrew’s white Sperry’s and blurted out that she had the same shoes but in cheetah print. This led him to ask “who wears cheetah” so naturally, Jessica recites the next line of the Selfie Song and they’ve been inseparable since. “Our meeting was ridiculous, and throughout that entire night, we recited the Selfie Song obnoxiously, laughed, and talked about everything and nothing,” recalls Jessica. “It felt like we found the perfect person at the perfect time.” At the end of the night, Andrew asked Jessica for her number a street over from where they would, later on, have their fall wedding at. “I’m a massive believer in fate, and I knew there was a reason we met.”
Just as fate intended, the couple tied the knot in a dreamy outdoor garden ceremony surrounded by 120 of their loved ones. For the reception, velvet place cards in a color palette of navy, burgundy, and ivory and velvet linens played a critical role in their fall wedding. “The color was a representation of the type of entree that had been picked,” explains Jessica. “My mother’s name in Vietnamese translates to velvet, so I wanted to pay homage to that. EB Inc. Event Rentals & Design was able to make my velvet dreams come true, and we were able to have ivory and red velvet linens for our tables.” Guests dined on steak churrasco and lemon rosemary chicken with garlic mashed potatoes and haricot verts before hitting the dancefloor. To pay homage to Jessica’s Vietnamese culture, the newlyweds surprised guests with a Lion Dance performance and Jessica wore a traditional Vietnamese dress. Jessica and Andrew’s biggest obstacle while planing their fall wedding was having to narrow down the vendors they went with. Says Jessica: “I really built some amazing relationships with the people in the wedding industry and there is so much talent and love that fuels into our special day. I wish I could’ve hired everyone I met at the I Do! Having begun their courtship at the University of Georgia, it’s no surprise that Kelli and A.J. wanted their wedding to “feel like an elegant garden party at a Southern home.” As the bride describes, “The ambiance began with a drive up scenic River Oaks Blvd. with Houston’s most beautiful homes,” and continued with a gracious country-club setting, decorated with soft-pink peonies, mercury-glass votives, twinkle-lights and French armchairs. A reception menu filled with Southern favorites—fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, pulled-pork sliders—nourished guests for a night of dancing to live music. As the night progressed, guests enjoyed hand-rolled Cuban cigars on the starlit patio, and late-night chicken-and-waffle bites. Jo Ann Schwartz Woodward (of wedding consulting firm Schwartz & Woodward) was great at listening to our vision and implementing it flawlessly,” Kelli says. “It was truly the wedding of our dreams!”

Listen up, ladies: There’s something to be said for making the first move. Just ask Houston bride Brittney—who may never have ended up with the love of her life if she hadn’t asked handsome Randy for his digits at that Southern Methodist University dorm icebreaker 10 years back. “We ended up talking for hours on end,” she recalls, “then officially started dating on Sept. 24, 2004…and the rest is history!” At the couple’s beautiful Chateau Cocomar wedding, the groom, whose family hails from Ghana, changed into traditional Ghanian clothing halfway through the reception and delighted in watching his family shower his bride in money—a Ghanian tradition that Brittney says, “was a complete surprise to me, but made for an awesome story and a unique experience at our wedding.”
