Listen up, ladies: There’s something to be said for making the first move. Just ask Houston bride Brittney—who may never have ended up with the love of her life if she hadn’t asked handsome Randy for his digits at that Southern Methodist University dorm icebreaker 10 years back. “We ended up talking for hours on end,” she recalls, “then officially started dating on Sept. 24, 2004…and the rest is history!” At the couple’s beautiful Chateau Cocomar wedding, the groom, whose family hails from Ghana, changed into traditional Ghanian clothing halfway through the reception and delighted in watching his family shower his bride in money—a Ghanian tradition that Brittney says, “was a complete surprise to me, but made for an awesome story and a unique experience at our wedding.”

Sometimes a pickup line is more than a pickup line—sometimes it’s the beginning of forever. At a sports bar where each of them happened to be celebrating with friends, Anita stole a glance at Johnny, who worked up the nerve to approach her. “The bartender told me you ordered a real man,” he grinned at her. “The fun and laughter hasn’t stopped since,” Anita says. Four years later, Johnny surprised Anita with a December Disneyland proposal, complete with fireworks and faux snow; 15 months after that, the pair wed in sensational style at the Crystal Ballroom at The Rice, surrounded by vibrant jewel tones, candlelight, brilliant crystal sparkle, and 150 of their most beloved friends and family members. Which we love. But what we love even more about this spectacular Houston wedding is that groom Johnny was the one who shared it with us—and in doing so, shared, with us, and all of you, his love story with the love of his life, Anita. Which we really, really, really love.

When stylist Anthony was referred to realtor Richard—the latter provided a vacant property for a video shoot when the original site backed out at the last minute—he couldn’t have known that his rescuer would also end up being his lifelong mate. But the shoot led to a date, where “we seriously hit it off and agreed to meet again. And again. And again. And finally, he just never left,” Richard recounts. “Ah, true love!” Two years into their courtship, Richard proposed in Manhattan at Rockefeller Plaza’s famed Christmas-tree-lighting ceremony. The following autumn, the pair had a commitment ceremony—and partied the night away—at the Sam Houston Hotel, where, Richard says, the evening’s most joyful highlight was “bringing 165 family members and friends together in one place to help us celebrate our special day.”

“I’ve been waiting for the perfect moment to propose, but then realized that just being with you is perfect enough, will you marry me?” are the exact words that Julio said to sweep Houston bride Alejandra off her feet. The pair celebrated with 280 of their nearest and dearest at The Petroleum Club of Houston. The breathtaking views of the city from the 43^rd floor provided the perfect backdrop to complement their sophisticated color palette of blush, ivory and gold. We fell in love with the gorrrgeous rose, hydrangea, phalo and orchid flower arrangements that filled the room with elegance. Sounds amazing, right? Just wait until you see the pics!
