Thora and John Henry’s love story begins in a biology class at Houston’s Bellaire High School, when he was a sophomore and she was a freshman. “At the time we met, John Henry had sustained an arm injury allowing him to rely heavily on me for help with notes and such,” Thora tells us. It’s the “and such” that evolved into the love of their lifetimes, culminating in a surprise proposal at the James Turrell Skyspace at Rice U. Six months later, the former high-school sweethearts joined 250 of their nearest and dearest for a lively, lovely, let-your-hair-down celebration of their union at Washington Ave.’s hidden garden wedding gem, Hughes Manor where revelers dined on fresh ceviche and beef tenderloin, and danced the night away, until the couple’s sparkler exit at the end of the night.
