California-raised Jack wed Texan Nisha this summer, blessing his mom—finally!—with a daughter, after four sons. The pair’s 400-guest celebration, with its Indian and American influences (saris, mandap, cake balls, cocktails) was a feast not only for the palate, but for the eyes, thanks to Darryl & Co., who did up Bayou City Event Center in a swank wedding color scheme of black-and-white stripes with vibrant hot-pink and purple floral arrangements, gold accents and amber lighting. On the 5th anniversary of the beginning of their courtship, Ronak took Zena to Sonoma, Calif., to celebrate—and, unbeknownst to her—to propose. “During our visit to Pride Vineyard, he had a picnic set up with my favorite foods and during the picnic gave me a scrapbook documenting our five years together. The final page said ‘Happily Ever After?’ Once I got to that page, he got down on one knee and proposed. We spent the rest of the weekend at a wonderful resort in Napa Valley celebrating.” The celebrating continued at the couple’s multi-day Indian wedding, which kicked off with a mehndi party, followed by a Moroccan-theme sangeet at the St. Regis Hotel, and, finally a vintage-theme ceremony with a moss-covered, floral-draped altar, and lushly floral rustic-chic reception, both at The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa. Sometimes we come across a wedding whose images are so rich with color and texture, so rippling with life and tradition, so gorgeously representative of the details of the celebration, we kinda just need to let them speak for themselves. Hence the wedding of Ranjita and Suchin, held at Safari Texas and filled with north and south Indian touchstones and influences, representing the pair’s individual cultural backgrounds and families.
