Sometimes it takes a wedding to inspire a wedding. Take the case of Houston lovebirds Lana and Bojan, who traveled to New Mexico for a friend’s nuptials. “The day before the wedding, Bojan surprised me by renting a car and taking me sightseeing through gorgeous forests and snow-covered slopes,” Lana recounts. On the way back to their hotel, Bojan stopped, got out of the car, and told Lana to close her eyes. “When I opened them, he was standing next to a snowman. He asked me to look inside the snowman, and when I did, I found the engagement ring. Truly one of the happiest days of my life,” the bride says. Another happy day? The day of the couple’s magnificent La Colombe d’Or wedding, of course.

Kayla and Billy met during her freshman year at East Texas Baptist University at a mentoring event. “He came over to talk to me and I was too shy. He tried and tried all night and I still wouldn’t talk to him,” says Kayla. Although she did not give Billy any attention at the event, as soon as she went home Kayla did what every girl would do: told her roommate everything! They soon started a Facebook search for Billy and sent a friend request, which led to messaging and eventually dating. Billy set up a sweet proposal adventure for Kayla while riding a four-wheeler on his best friend’s land. The lovebirds read through their journal and scriptures underneath a tree adorned with candles and mason jars (AWW!). Before Kayla could get through the second page, Billy was on one knee ready to propose. There’s something so darn timeless and captivating about Shaw and Kael’s morning wedding at Galveston’s historic Hotel Galvez. Everything from the wash of coastal light to the vintage-inspired palette of warm golden brown and bright poppy red to the charmingly attired couple themselves is picture-perfect. Here’s something else that was perfect: the groom’s acknowledgement of the the day’s precious moments. “One thing I really appreciated was that throughout the day Kael would stop me and say, ‘Let’s remember this moment,’ which was a nice way to slow down and not forget anything important amidst a busy, emotional day,” explains Shaw.
