Despite growing up over 7,000 miles apart, it was destiny that brought Andrea and Vincent together. Andrea grew up on a farm in Kansas, eventually leaving the countryside to pursue a career in the hotel sales industry in New York City. Similar reasons brought Vincent to The Big Apple. While he grew up in Belgium, a career in the hotel industry also brought him to New York.

When Vincent first moved to the city, one of his coworkers suggested he meet up with Andrea who used to work there too and could offer some great insights. Vincent agreed, and the coworker called Andrea to set everything up (what a great matchmaker, right?). Initially, Andrea had just returned from the Kentucky Derby and wasn’t much interested in grabbing drinks the very next Monday. But, she finally caved and agreed to meet this mystery man.

Navy and Ivory Briscoe Manor Wedding by Lindsay Elizabeth Photography

What is it about dimpled beauties and fitness-related meet-cutes?? Even though Scott admits he “hated the challenges of a spin class” (um, yeah, been there), he figured strained muscles and spent lung capacity was worth it if it meant winning a “million-dollar smile” from the girl of his dreams—spin/cycling instructor Sarah. After forming a friendship and—our favorite part—falling in love, the two got engaged, in the spin studio where they first met (natch). “Briscoe Manor offered a distinctive, chic and truly Texas wedding venue with its limestone architecture and country setting among the pecan and oak trees,” Sarah tells us—the perfect spot to introduce Canadian-born Scott’s family to her native state. Her most memorable moments? “Getting to see Scott for the first time before the ceremony and spending special moments with my soon-to-be husband, and looking around at a room full of friends and family that we love so dearly. I especially enjoyed getting to introduce all of the Canadian guests to a true Texas-themed wedding!” And WE especially enjoy getting to introduce Sarah and Scott to YOU—with help from Lindsay Elizabeth’s ever lovely photos, of course!

HWB Hearts: Chic, Classic Navy Blue

Listen up, sophisticated brides: Navy blue was MADE pour vous. Whether you like your navy nautical-cool (navy, white, red, gold) or New-England-classic (navy, ivory, green, silver), navy, aka the new black, is among the hottest “anchor” hues for 2012 and 2013 wedding palettes. Combo it with coral and cream for a totally modern color scheme. Or marry it with lilac and pewter, with accents of delicate lace. Our favorite navy touches include navy-blue wedding shoes, like Nina’s jeweled, peep-toe Elke pump in “True Blue;” a navy grosgrain ribbon belt for your classic wedding gown; tabletop touches like dark-blue glass bottles and votive holders; and all manner of b-maid bounty, from navy chiffon shifts to striped clutches. Are you planning a navy-based palette for your big day? Comment here!
