WEDDINGS IN HOUSTON Spring 2015 | Real Wedding Feature
Shannon & Tyler ~ June 21, 2014
Oh, how we love a well-planned proposal. Take, for example, Tyler’s to Shannon: After a sunny day of boating together on Austin’s Lake Travis, the groom-to-be feigned a “late” dinner reservation and led his beloved to Windy Point Park, where, after telling Shannon how much he loved her, he spun her around to face the words, “Will You Marry Me?” spelled in rose petals in the sand. He then proceeded to place a ring that he had custom designed for his one-and-only on her shaking-with-excitement hand. The couple’s Crystal Ballroom at The Rice wedding, with its sophisticated palette of blush, navy and gold, and its romantic candlelit glow, wasn’t just elegant—it was also a whole lot of fun: “Everyone enjoyed letting loose and dancing the night away,” Shannon says. “The dance floor was never empty. It was a night of a lifetime!”

Your wedding may be the biggest celebration of your life, but it’s something more than that–it’s an expression of love that is as personal as it is profound. The Woodlands’ A Memorable Event understands the unique importance of weddings, and creates customized celebratory experiences that are not just memorable–they are utterly unforgettable. Rachel & Kurt ~ July 11, 2014
For their once-in-a-lifetime celebration, UT alums Rachel and Kurt chose The Bell Tower on 34th St., and it’s easy to see why. With its gorgeous grounds, vine-covered walls, hidden archways and spectacular interior, the beloved Bell Tower was the perfect place to gather 240 guests for an evening of dining, dancing and pure, exuberant joy. The bride enchanted everyone in her gorgeous Watters gown–which, we might add, photographer Steve Lee Weddings captured magnificently against a series of Bell Tower backgrounds. Notes Rachel: “Kurt and I truly feel that our perfect evening lasted forever as we got to soak up every moment of happiness and fun of the party.” As for us? We note that this wedding was one of our favorites of the year! Best of luck, and much love, to the newlyweds. And big thanks to The Bell Tower on 34th, and Steve Lee Weddings, for sharing this beautiful event with us…and YOU!

Austyn could never have predicted that she’d eventually marry her dashing high-school prom date, Dane. But when their trip to the beach for Austyn’s 24th birthday turned into a surprise proposal, well, lovely Austyn knew she’d made the right choice. The pair wed in front of 250 of their nearest and dearest in grand style, and partied the night away surrounded by tall candelabras, dramatic floral arrangements, and tons of glitz n’ glam. Sounds gorgeous? Just wait ’til you see the sweet pics. Congrats and best wishes to the happy couple!

We are absolutely in love with beautiful bride-to-be Kristy and handsome groom Desmond’s engagement shoot for several reasons: 1. They are ridiculously good-looking AND well dressed. 2. The theme went from super modern and edgy to casual, yet romantic. 3. We can’t wait to see how amazing their upcoming wedding in August at Chateau Polonez will be! Check out their engagement shoot by Civic Photos- great job Barett!

We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again: Wedding in Houston vendors are the best in the business. But besides weddings, know what else they’re really good at? VALENTINE’S DAY. Gorgeous flowers, couture confections, decadent spa treatments―our partners have got you covered. Here’s just a handful of the goodies they’ve got going to help make this Valentine’s Day the most deliciously romantic you’ve ever enjoyed.
Michael’s Cookie Jar, creator of the delightful cookie tower that had so many of you oohing and aahing at the I Do! show, has too many adorable cookie gifts to count. But our fave has got to be the Valentine Gift box, with 18 bite-sized cookies to say “I love you” in six yummy flavors including espresso shortbread, gingerbread and sugar cookie, plus a personal love note at no extra charge. Order 24 hours ahead for pickup, or have your sweets shipped to your sweetie.
Also a big hit at our January show, Nothing Bundt Cakes bundtelets and bundtinis (you may remember these babies from your I Do! swag bag) are cute as anything, and insanely delicious to boot. Flavors include red velvet, chocolate chocolate-chip and white-chocolate raspberry. Pick up a Nothing Bundt Cakes decorating kit and customize a Valentine’s Day cake your honey won’t be able to resist.
Get primped for your perfect Valentine’s venture with a little beauty boost from Evia Spa. Perhaps the Spa Manicure/Spa Pedicure/60-Minute Massage trio ($165), or the fabulous Shampoo/Blow Dry/Makeup Application/Shellac Manicure combo ($110)? Want to luxuriate right alongside the LOYL? All couples services booked for Friday, Feb. 10, Saturday, Feb. 11, or Tuesday, Feb. 14 come with complimentary cocktails, bubbly, beer or wine AND gourmet chocolate-covered strawberries.
Aw, heck, why not make a weekend of it? Lakeway Resort & Spa―you may recall it as the site of Lauren and Zach’s lovely nuptials―is offering the “Sleepless in Austin” Valentine’s package, which includes resort accommodations on Saturday, Feb. 11, chilled bubbly, a five-course dinner and, of course, every gal’s favorite Meg Ryan-Tom Hanks rom-com flick. Space is limited, book now!
’Course, if you want to drop a hint for your honey, you could always let him know that a gift of red roses is still your favorite token of love. For the perfect “bouquet” send him straight to Floriography, which offers gorgeous fresh long-stemmed roses nestled in a sleek white box, “Mad Men”-style, for a modern woman with vintage flair―namely, you. Oh―and you may want to remind him that if he orders by TOMORROW, Feb. 9, he’ll get 20% off, because while you love him, and he loves you, EVERYONE loves a deal. Thanks, Floriography! And happy Valentine’s Day, Houston brides.
