After a lively night of dancing at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Jennifer and Edgar knew that they were meant to be together.

After starting their wedding planning and vendor search with Weddings In Houston, Marcus and Rachel chose luxurious hacienda-inspired wedding venue The Bell Tower on 34th for their early spring wedding. The venue’s picturesque architecture made for a perfect setting for dreamy wedding day portraits, stunningly captured by Houston wedding photographer Civic Photos.
For their ceremony, the couple took advantage of the versatile venue’s elegant on-site chapel. Rachel walked down the aisle strewn with rose petals to say, ‘I do’ in a traditional wedding ceremony amidst 200 of their nearest and dearest. The romantic, garden-inspired reception décor featured ivory and dusty rose floral arrangements by Plants N’ Petals, beautifully complimenting the grand ballroom. The newlyweds made their grand exit under a shower of rose petals tossed by their guests.

“We wanted a wedding like nothing any of our guests had ever been to,” says Houston bride Meagan, who tied the knot with handsome Brett at an all-out swanky celebration at The Astorian. “We decided to go against tradition and have a big party instead. Our setup was more of a lounge feel. We had passed appetizers, dessert and treats, along with serviced food stations. The bar was open from the moment you arrived. We wanted people to have a great time from beginning to end and I think we succeeded at that!” So do we, Meagan…so do we. “Our favorite moment is when my brother, the officiant, had us actually turn around during the ceremony and look at all of our loved ones surrounding us. I will never forget that moment and seeing all of our guests smiling back at us.” Luckily, she’ll also enjoy the moment, and all the moments of her incredible day, in photographs by Aisha Khan of Ama Photography & Cinema. Life hack: If you step out of your comfort zone, you might just find your future soulmate! We know Houston bride, Kristen, agrees. She tells us how she happened to meet her future husband when she least expected it: “We met at a crawfish boil in 2015—I didn’t want to attend. I don’t even like crawfish! When I was about to leave, I saw some of his family members whom I knew, so I went by them to say hello, and was introduced to Tarek. We hit it off instantly and started dating… the rest is history!”
When it came time for Tarek to propose, he knew he was going to have to catch Kristen off guard. “I had to attend a work conference in Corpus Christi, and Tarek tagged along. After a long day of being in workshops, he suggested that we go for a nice dinner and get some Champagne. I thought it was peculiar that he wanted to order Champagne…he kept repeating it. I had a feeling he was going to propose after dinner—but it didn’t happen! We went for a stroll on the beach after dinner, and Tarek kneeled down declaring that he found a pearl. I bent down to look for the pearl and saw that he was holding a diamond ring,” says Kristen.
Kristen and Tarek wanted a subtle, yet elegant atmosphere for their wedding. To bring movement to the room, and allow for conversation, they chose mixed-height centerpieces that were not overwhelmingly large. “Our goal was to make the wedding fun, and make sure the guests enjoy themselves,” Kristen says.
